A.W. Faber, Paris c. 1870, a lovely piece to any vintage pencils collection, rolled gold ends and telescopic shaft, with an abalone covered casing and a ring to hang from a ribbon or chain. In its original presentation hard box imprint A. W. Faber Paris in gilt printing. Comes with a turned tube with screw lid containing refill leads. The pencil measures 5 cm closed including the ring and 6,9 cm with the shaft extended. Unfortunately, the lead gripping end is not propelling, so the pencil is non functional. It is a historical piece that could be used as a decorative jewel.

Faber had founded its company in Stein, Germany in 1761 and when his son Anton Wilhem Faber took over the direction in 1784 the company took the name of A. W. Faber. From 1839 the pencils were marked A.W.Faber. The Paris subsidiary was opened in 1855.  #L200 $USD 60

Unmarked, impressive pencil / dip pen combo in yellow metal, ring slider, but only pencil protrudes, fluted barleycorn pattern, huge cast engraved terminal with red stone. Length closed/ extended 10.9 / 13.5 cm, diam body / terminal 8 / 16 mm. Very good condition, only a hairline split in the overlay . #L253- $USD 130
